andagain represents a lot of things: an artisan approach to design, sustainability, collaboration, and attention to detail. With our most recent design, the Black Pleated Jacket, we are taking an entirely new level of focus on design and intention.
This jacket is made from 100% cotton, deadstock denim and is fully lined. It is sewn by hand in New York City and took our team three days to complete. This is a one-of-a-kind design, with each unit being made-to-order and requiring one week for production. Our studio model Emily is 5' 7" and wears a size small.
The denim that we used was sourced deadstock from Cone Mills, one of the last remaining denim manufacturers in the USA. Cone Mills, located in North Carolina, closed in 2017 and all of the denim left, including this, is a large part of fashion history.
We took inspiration from the pleating details on our Pleated Canvas Bolero, but added the element of a white, contrast top stitch to elevate this jacket even further.
Pleating is not something we normally incorporate into our designs, but the heavily textured result gave this jacket, and the other two in the concept, the perfect design elements.
