Do you enjoy meeting new people? Hearing the stories of someone who is inspiring? If you answered yes to either of those, or find yourself enjoying having a simple conversation with someone else, we’re with you. And we want to offer this to you through THEM, a section of our blog that introduces the inspiring people we have had the fortunate experience of meeting.
Enjoy meeting Matt.
If you are familiar with andagain and the content that we produce, both photos and video, then you have probably seen Matt’s name more than once. Our team has known Matt for well over two years now, originally meeting him while still attending college together. All three of us are all the same age and like a lot of the same stuff.
Matt attended the University of Delaware, graduating in 2018 with a degree in Visual Communications, and incredible talents in film, photography and graphic design. He has held positions at Milk Studios in NYC and been growing his freelance client list since well before graduation. Matt’s shooting style has accommodated variation in content ranging from fashion editorial all the way to corporate commercials in the automotive industry. His editing style is unique, yet pleasingly subtle.
Currently, Matt works as a director and cinematographer for Young Hero, a NYC-based production house that one of Matt’s previous colleagues at Milk founded in.
When did you first start filming/taking photos?
I was always interested in cameras at a youngish age but didn’t start shooting photos as a hobby until I was a sophomore in high school which lead into me film my friends' snowboarding/ski and skateboarding as I was a senior in high school.
Why?
I ask myself that everyday… I have never been a good writer or reader but have always been interested in storytelling so think that filmmaking and photographer is my way of being able to tell the stories I want through a medium that I feel confident in.
What is the most rewarding part of your career?
I think being able to see all the time you have spent on a project pay off in the final product is one of the most rewarding parts and working with so many other creative people.
Your largest goal in film?
Probably cheesy, but to win an Oscar or a Canne Palme D'or. I think in a more realistic sense I want to be able to direct a feature that tells an important story and not just a VFX hell-storm…. Cough cough Marvel Series….
Your largest goal in life? If it differs?
J
ust to create work that I love and not just doing things because the money is right.
Other than NYC, where would you like to live right now?
I
would love to live in London. Something about that city just makes me feel at home.
